She poked you on Facebook…

facebook logoI don’t really log onto facebook regularily. I’m just not the biggest fan of sharing my every emotions with hundreds of online friends, let alone twitting my thought or discoveries 24/7. But I sometimes receive notification emails with She poked you on Facebook… as the subject. I must say that I very much like how suggestive the 3-dots are…!

It’s nothing in the end, really. Nothing more than someone I know, who with a few clicks, sends me this very, very short message asking for attention. A little bit like something along the lines of «Hey…» (3 dots again!) «if I had you next to me now, maybe I’d really want some attention and would poke you!» Maybe? Yes, well, this is online, and things seem to have less of a consequence here!

Funnily enough, I enjoy getting my day shortly interrupted by this woman poking me! For some reason I can’t help thinking how subtle and delicate her poking me would be! I’m at work dealing with problems, misunderstandings and scope creeps, until a poke slips through in my inbox, haaaaaaa, that’s a few mins invluable to me, before more problems, misunderstandings and scope creeps or budget cuts!

Much better than a slap really! And then I’m sure Zuckerberg and other facebook people have thought about this too! Else it could’ve been.. well, many other things!

The one worrying thing is that for some, pokes are now considered harrassement. The worrying bit is that these people don’t seem to remember one has to accept others as friend before they can poke you around.

Nonetheless, some users believe that the poke feature is some sort of Facebook flirting while for others its the most minimal form of communication possible.

I’ve got to admit I’m amongst the former, hence the limited poking I perform – the guy has got values! Which one are you?
